De Bruyne has been in great shape since coming back from missing five months of the season with a leg injury. In 11 games, he has scored one goal and set up ten others.
But the midfielder was left out of Belgium’s latest group on Thursday, which will not play in their friendlies this month against Poland and England.
His new injury was said to be minor, but it will still be a big worry for City with such an important game coming up. Goalkeeper Ederson is already a big doubt for the game against Arsenal because he hurt his thigh last weekend in the 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield.
Tedesco, the boss of Belgium, said of De Bruyne, “I don’t know if it has something to do with his hamstrings.” He hurt himself in the groyne.
“We found out yesterday that Kevin De Bruyne was hurt.” He and the doctor and I talked. We chose not to take any risks.
“Let him have some time to get better.” With three months to go, we shouldn’t take chances with our stars now.
