Spanish newspaper Marca leak Ballon d’Or result hours before ceremony as winner ‘confirmed’

Spanish newspaper Marca have ‘leaked’ the next Ballon d’Or winner ahead of Monday’s ceremony as a separate ‘unconfirmed list’ appears to show the top 12 players based on voting points.

Ahead of the much-anticipated event at the Théâtre du Châtelet, Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior has been heavily tipped to receive his first Ballon d’Or award.

The Brazilian forward, who notched 26 goals and 11 assists last season, has continued to impress in recent weeks, racking up five goals and six assists in La Liga, as well as three goals in the Champions League.

And on Monday night, he will lift the prestigious Golden Ball in Paris, according to the latest edition of Marca. On the front page of Monday’s newspaper, they claim that Vinicius is “receiving the Ballon d’Or today”.

Last month, the Spanish publication stated that the Brazilian ‘already knows’ that he has won the award after stating ‘all roads lead to gold’ for the 24-year-old, who joined Los Blancos from Flamengo in 2018.

In terms of the overall standings, Vinicius will scoop the award with 630 points, according to an ‘unconfirmed list’ posted by the Daily Mail, while Manchester City and Spain midfielder Rodri is set to come in second with 576 points.

Jude Bellingham, who played a crucial role in Real Madrid’s Champions League-winning campaign last season, will reportedly finish in third position ahead of Kylian Mbappe, Harry Kane and Erling Haaland.

Lamine Yamal, who helped Spain win Euro 2024 after enjoying a breakthrough campaign at Barcelona, will also feature in the top 12 alongside Phil Foden, Dani Olmo, Florian Wirtz, Dani Carvajal and Antonio Rudiger.

Here is that list in full:
