Barcelona is ready to offer £40 million to get Mason Greenwood, who wears Lionel Messi’s famous No. 10 shirt.
After going on loan to La Liga club Getafe, Greenwood, a forward for Manchester United, is getting a lot of attention in Spanish football.
They are now eighth in the table thanks to Greenwood’s five goals and four helpers. He is 22 years old.
Barça is planning a £40 million bid for him, which includes that famous No. 10 shirt. Getafe wants to sign him forever.
Messi, an eight-time Ballon d’Or winner and Argentine World Cup star left Barcelona in August 2021 and Ansu Fati took his place.
But since Fati went to Brighton on loan in September of this year, it hasn’t had an owner.
Now, Barcelona wants to use it to help bring Greenwood, who was born in Bradford, to the Nou Camp and make a beautiful new team.
Greenwood is getting his career back on track after deciding it was best to leave United.
There were charges of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behavior, and assault causing real bodily harm against the striker, but those charges were dropped in February.
Even though United did their study, they were ready to have him back on the team.
He changed his mind about that plan in August after people spoke out against it, and he left for Getafe without having played in 18 months.
There is still a chance that Greenwood will come back to United, but it is not possible.
