Joan Laporta, president of Barcelona, is planning to bring back one of the most prominent former officials to manage the club again, the man whose departure is considered by many to be one of the most important reasons for Barcelona’s failure this season.
According to the Spanish “Relivo” network, Laporta is seeking to return Matteo Alemany to the position of football director at Barcelona after Deco’s miserable failure in this task.
Alemany held this position from March 2021 until September last year, where he led the club’s sporting and economic rebuilding process, and played a pivotal role in maximizing economic resources and concluding several deals.
Reports indicated that Laporta does not intend to sacrifice Deco, the current sporting director, in the event of Alemany’s return, but rather seeks for the two to work together as happened last summer.
Despite Laporta’s plans to return Alemany, he has not taken any official steps in this regard yet.
It should be noted that Alemany had previously been linked to running for the position of president of the Spanish Federation, and his name was also rumored to work with Atletico Madrid.
