German midfielder Toni Kroos shares a very strong relationship with Real Madrid’s president, Florentino Pérez, and several influential figures at the club. As a result, his opinions are highly valued on a variety of matters.

Although Kroos has retired from international football, he continues to play a significant role at Real Madrid. Some have pointed out a drop in the team’s performances this season compared to the previous one, with the absence of the veteran midfielder partially to blame.

However, Kroos’ influence extends beyond his contributions on the pitch; it also reaches into the club’s administrative affairs. Reports indicate that the former Real Madrid player serves as a trusted advisor to Pérez, who regularly consults him when making key  decisions regarding potential signings.

In recent months, Kroos has been seen more frequently at the Santiago Bernabéu, rekindling his connection with the club. Pérez, too, has seized every opportunity to discuss football-related matters with him.

Furthermore, according to Spanish newspaper “Defensa Central”, Kroos has confirmed that “Florian Wirtz is the player to sign,” emphasizing that the Bayer Leverkusen star has been one of his top choices for a long time, and remains so, according to multiple German sports outlets.

Kroos believes that Wirtz has the potential to make a major impact at Real Madrid in the future and hopes the club will move to sign him. The young German is reportedly very interested in joining the Spanish giants, especially with the possibility of Xabi Alonso taking over as head coach after Carlo Ancelotti. Additionally, Wirtz is excited about the prospect of being part of Real Madrid’s ambitious project to assemble a squad of the world’s best players.

On the other hand, Real Madrid recognizes the need to bolster its midfield with a creative force. While Wirtz plays as an attacking midfielder, his versatility and technical ability suggest he could easily adapt to a deeper role, helping control the tempo of the game.
A final  decision on whether to sign Wirtz has yet to be made. The 20-year-old is under contract with Bayer Leverkusen until the summer of 2027, and his market value is estimated at around €130 million.

Leverkusen is expected to demand a fee exceeding €100 million—similar to the amount Real Madrid paid for Jude Bellingham in 2023. Real Madrid plans to thoroughly assess the market, with priority given to strengthening the defense. After evaluating available players and considering possible departures, the club will make a final decision on pursuing the German talent.
