Hansi Flick is reportedly contemplating signing 23-year-old German midfielder Angelo Stiller from Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart for Barcelona.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Angelo Stiller is the subject of interest from Hansi Flick. The newly-appointed German tactician is driving Barcelona’s potential move for the VfB Stuttgart midfielder. Meanwhile, the Bundesliga club will demand around €25 million to sell the 23-year-old in the summer transfer window.

Who is Angelo Stiller?

Angelo Stiller has established himself as one of the best holding midfielders in the Bundesliga since joining VfB Stuttgart from TSG Hoffenheim last summer. A native of Munich, he began his youth career at TSV Milbertshofen before joining Bayern Munich in 2010. However, the German midfielder failed to establish a foothold in the first-team squad at the Allianz Arena and left for Hoffenheim in 2021.

Stiller’s spell with Hoffenheim lasted only two years, and the move to Stuttgart is transforming his career. The 23-year-old was a mainstay in the middle of the park for Die Schwaben in the 2023/24 season, amassing nearly 3,000 minutes of game time across 34 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with one goal and six assists.

Meanwhile, Stiller’s progress at VfB Stuttgart has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. A move to Barcelona might be on the cards, with FC Barcelona emerging as a prospective suitor for the VfB Stuttgart midfielder.

Barcelona want Stiller

Barcelona’s interest in Angelo Stiller is understandable. Hansi Flick, the newly appointed manager of the Catalan outfit, is driving the club’s move for the German midfielder. The report has claimed that ‘is seduced’ by the possibility of signing the VfB Stuttgart midfielder in the summer transfer window.

With Sergio Busquets leaving a gaping hole in the midfield unit after departing from the Catalan club, they can do with a new holding midfielder. Several candidates, including Mikel Merino, have thus emerged on Barcelona’s radar. VfB Stuttgart midfielder Still is also a viable target for the Blaugrana.

Meanwhile, the Bundesliga club will demand around €25 million to part ways with the 23-year-old German holding midfielder. The price tag might make Stiller an appealing target for Barcelona, and it will be interesting to see if Hansi Flick can convince the Catalan outfit to sign him from VfB Stuttgart.
