According to Mundo Deportivo, Hansi Flick has big plans to get the best out of Gavi in his system at Barcelona starting next season.
The German gaffer is counting on the La Masia product to be a key player for him. Yet, Flick does not envision the Spaniard to play on the wings.
He is aiming to slot Gavi into the double pivot role in midfield. The Spanish midfielder himself prefers to play more centrally than wide in the wings.
Gavi also feels that he can succeed as one of the two pivots in midfield. From here, he can help the Blaugrana control more of the ball and also create more chances.
If slotted into this midfield role, Gavi should play with either Frenkie de Jong or perhaps a new midfield signing. This means Pedri or Ilkay Gundogan might be played a bit further forward in Flick’s 4-2-3-1 system.
Gavi endured a difficult 2023/24 season in which was only able to make 15 appearances before an awful injury ended his campaign.
