Fabrizio Romano reports Chelsea is outbidding Arsenal and Barcelona for Nico Williams

BREAKING NEWS: Fabrizio Romano reports Chelsea is outbidding Arsenal and Barcelona for Nico Williams, meeting his €58 million release clause. Williams is likely to join Chelsea.

Chelsea has made a more lucrative offer to Nico Williams compared to Arsenal. Both clubs are competing for the Athletic Bilbao winger, who has shone at Euro 2024 with Spain.

According to AS, Chelsea and Arsenal are ready to meet Williams’ €58 million release clause this summer. However, Chelsea has offered a significantly higher salary, proposing to triple his current earnings to €15 million annually, while Arsenal is reluctant to match this wage and is reconsidering its approach.

Williams is highly sought after this summer, with interest from top clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid. His standout performances at Euro 2024, including key contributions in wins over Croatia, Italy, and Georgia, have drawn attention. Notably, he outplayed Italy’s Giovanni Di Lorenzo and assisted in the decisive own goal by Riccardo Calafiori. He also scored a remarkable goal in the last-16 victory over Georgia.

The 21-year-old winger, renowned for his speed and dribbling, has a €58 million release clause in his Athletic Bilbao contract. Since his debut in 2021, he has scored 20 goals in 122 appearances for the club. Internationally, he has three goals in 17 games for Spain and participated in the 2022 World Cup. His brother, Inaki Williams, is also a key player for Athletic Bilbao and represents Ghana internationally.

Williams is set to play again on Friday as Spain takes on Germany in the Euro 2024 quarter-finals.
