Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, the coach of Real Madrid, embarrassed his team’s attacking trio with a dramatic statement after winning the 2024 European Super Cup.
Yesterday evening, Wednesday, the Merengues won the European Super Cup, after defeating their Italian counterpart, Atalanta, with two clean goals scored by Valverde and Kylian Mbappe.
With this victory, the Royal team became the team that won the most European Super Cup titles, with 6 titles, ahead of its traditional rivals Barcelona and the Italian Milan, where each of them has 5 titles.
Real Madrid had won the 2023/2024 Champions League title for the fifteenth time in its history at the expense of Borussia Dortmund with two clean goals.
Real Madrid coach Ancelotti said in his statements during the press conference held after the end of the match, “Playing against Atalanta feels to me like we are going to the dentist (laughs).”
He continued: “Mbappe? He has a lot of quality.”
He added: “Bellingham, Vinny, Mbappe and Rodrigo? “It is very difficult to compare this team to the 2014 team. We were great with Bale, Benzema and Ronaldo. That attack was amazing, frankly.”
He continued: “The new midfield? They put in a lot of effort, this was a difficult match, as many duels were one-on-one, the first half was not good. But the three midfielders were very good in defence.”
He concluded: “Was Camavinga going to start tonight? Yes, I had that option but unfortunately he suffered an injury and was unable to play.”
