Karim Benzema, the former star of Al-Ittihad Jeddah and Real Madrid, is trying to convince one of Real Madrid’s players to move to the ranks of Al-Ittihad next season.
Real Madrid is looking to offload several first-team players at the end of the current season in order to inject fresh talent into the squad for the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to reports from the Spanish newspaper “Defensa Central,” Karim Benzema is working to convince his compatriot Ferland Mendy, Real Madrid’s left-back, to join Al-Ittihad next summer.
The newspaper reported that Real Madrid is set to sign Alphonso Davies, Bayern Munich’s left-back, which increases the likelihood of Mendy’s departure, especially since he does not want to sit on the bench after being a regular starter.
The newspaper further explained that Real Madrid has no objections to letting Mendy go, as Fran García will serve as a suitable alternative to Alphonso Davies.
The report concluded that Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez would be open to Mendy’s departure, particularly given the poor performances he has shown this season, which have cost the team several matches. It is worth noting that Ferland Mendy renewed his contract with Real Madrid just two months ago, extending it until the summer of 2027.
