Barcelona will push for the permanent signing of forward despite €3m clause expiring

Pau Victor has been one of the chief driving forces in Barcelona Athletic’s push for promotion to La Liga 2 this season.

The striker, on loan from fellow Catalan club Girona, has netted a total of 20 goals from 37 appearances in all competitions for Rafa Marquez’s side.

Victor’s performances are one of the main reasons behind Barça Atletic making it to the finals of the promotion playoffs, after beating Ibiza in the previous round.

Barcelona had a permanent purchase clause of €3 million for Pau Victor, which they intended to activate to keep him at the club.

Barcelona still keen on Pau Victor signing

However, Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona’s option to sign Pau Victor for the previously agreed €3 million fee expired on April 1 itself.

Despite that, though, Barça intend to sign the 22-year-old striker on a permanent basis and will make efforts to try and strike a deal with Girona.

The Catalans realise that perhaps the April 1 deadline was not very well set as they did not foresee possible constraints due to financial fair play when his arrival on loan on August 17, 2023, was made official.

Now, the desire to keep Victor as their own player clashes with the uncertainty that reigns at FC Barcelona due to the financial situation until the Nike deal and a replacement for Libero are finalised to cover the €40 million debt for a stake in Barça Vision.

However, Barcelona will try to find a solution with Girona because Victor is very much to their liking. In addition to his goalscoring instinct, he is also versatile enough to play on the left flank.

Barça know that they could end up having to pay more than €3 million for an attacker who would be very useful in the event of promotion to the second division and also as a backup in the first team for Robert Lewandowski.

With Girona interested in the likes of Eric Garcia, Oriol Romeu, and Pablo Torre, Victor could enter into negotiations for any of the deals too
