Barcelona’s strong start to the season can be attributed to a number of factors falling into place at the right time.
From the managerial change and the new system it brought to the confidence shown by the new coach, Hansi Flick is one of the key pillars of the team’s resurgence.
Concurrently, however, a fair share of the credit must go to the players for turning up to the campaign in fine form and with the determination to go big.
Speaking to the media in a recent interview, Barcelona legend Rivaldo shared his thoughts on the team’s strong start to the season, Hansi Flick’s impact and Lamine Yamal.
In awe of Yamal
He began by speaking about Barcelona’s teenage phenom who has taken world football by storm with his abilities on the right wing.
“He’s a great player. I admire him because he has a personality despite being young. But it already has a very, very high level. I think he’s already up to Mbappé and Vinicius.”
He then revealed the promise he saw in the youngster and the greatness that was to come.
“According to his personality, I think he still has a lot to show. He’s going to get very, very far.”
Finally, the Brazilian legend labelled Yamal a ‘differential’ player for the years to come.
“You see Yamal and he plays with joy. Enjoy soccer. If you consider the fact that he has already won the Euro Cup, it makes him a differential footballer for the future. I’m convinced.”
Advice to Hansi Flick
Shifting to the topic of Barcelona’s strong start to the season and the success Hansi Flick has enjoyed so far at the club, he said,
“It’s just that in the big teams like Barça everything depends on the results. It is true that Flick’s Barça is playing phenomenally, but there is a lot of the championship ahead.”
“Lots of Champions, lots of League, the Cup. I would be prudent and would wait until the end of the season,” he added, preferring to err on the side of caution.
Rivaldo then passed a warning to the current manager through his experience, saying,
“In Barça, it is only worth reaching the finals and winning titles. If you don’t bring a title to the windows, the fans and the press question you.”
“But having said that. I see a different Barça than last season and I think it already has everything it needs to win important titles. But, you have to wait,”he concluded.
