Barcelona coach Xavi really likes the 23-year-old Man City striker who wants to sign a contract in 2024

Over the course of the past few years, Barcelona has acquired a lot of players from Manchester City, which is a major player in the Premier League.

Ferran Torres joined the team in January 2022, six months after Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia came. The arrival of Ferran Torres occurred in the summer of 2021.

Ilkay Gundogan, a former captain of Manchester City, was brought in by the Blaugrana on a free transfer during the summer of this past year. Meanwhile, the Blaugrana continue to show interest in Bernardo Silva, who has been a long-term transfer target.

Barcelona has their sights set on Julian Alvarez.

Now, SPORT is stating that another player from Manchester City is caught on the radar of Barcelona. It is believed that manager Xavi Hernandez is a fan of attacker Julian Alvarez, and he is reportedly interested in signing him.

According to the source, the head coach of Barcelona “really likes” the Argentine forward who is 23 years old and sees him as a quality future reinforcement for the team.

Alvarez has been identified as a possible target for the La Liga winners on multiple occasions, and this is not the first time that this has occurred.

In addition, despite the fact that Vitor Roque is scheduled to arrive in Barcelona the following year, the club would still want another striker of high caliber to succeed Robert Lewandowski in the long run.

Considering that the young attacker has already demonstrated his worth at Manchester City and with the Argentine national team, this is the point at which someone like Alvarez might potentially contribute to the situation.

However, signing Alvarez will be anything but easy for Barcelona, considering that the 23-year-old has a long-term contract with Manchester City until 2028.

It had been previously reported that the Argentine international has an exit clause that could make him an attainable target.

But those rumours were subsequently shot down and it is believed that even if Man City were to consider a sale, they would hold out for a fee in excess of €80 million.

So, as things stand, any move for Alvarez from Barcelona, in their current financial situation, seems extremely unlikely. It remains to be seen if things change in the future
