A Spanish legend humiliates Vinicius Junior

C’ is among the potent statements that spark discussion in Spain. In the ongoing conversation about the best player currently, Marcos Senna, a former Spanish international of Brazilian descent, expressed his preference for Lamine Yamal over Vinicius Junior. He supports his opinion with clear arguments.

Vinicius Junior is increasingly in contention for the Ballon d’Or 2024. After an excellent last season filled with impressive performances in the Champions League, the 24-year-old Brazilian has drawn the attention of many football analysts. Most expect the Madrid player to secure the highly coveted trophy this year. With a dazzling and dynamic style of play, Vini is a pivotal figure for Real Madrid. Last Saturday in La Liga, he stood out against Villarreal, and he remains the most aggressive player in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad in one-on-one duels, even if he isn’t the top dribbler on the team.

Senna’s striking comments have stirred the pot. The Spanish legend has criticized Vinicius Junior, stating, “That’s why I prefer Yamal.” Nevertheless, the Brazilian international does not meet everyone’s standards. According to Marcos Senna, a former Villarreal player (2002-2013, 361 appearances, 33 goals), Vinicius lacks completeness as a player. In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, the former defensive midfielder, now 48, asserts that the young Lamine Yamal of Barcelona is a more well-rounded player and that only speed is missing for the 17-year-old to be the ideal dribbler.

“I prefer Lamine Yamal to Vinicius because he has the ability to ‘pause’ like Messi. He is more engaged in the game, offers more variety in his passing, has a superior shot, and is more aesthetically pleasing in one-on-one situations. If he had Vini’s speed, he would be the perfect dribbler,” the former Spanish international (2006-2010, 28 caps, 1 goal) remarked. This sharp comment has prompted reactions across Spain.

Regardless of opinions, it is important to acknowledge that Vinicius continues to improve each season. Criticized upon his arrival at Real Madrid in 2018, the Brazilian has worked hard to rise to the ranks of the best players in the world today. As reported by Media Relevo on Tuesday, the 24-year-old is poised to claim the Ballon d’Or this season, competing against Rodri, Mbappe, Haaland, and others. Furthermore, the Madrid leadership is already making final preparations for the ceremony honoring their player.
