An A-list of celebrities, including Stormzy, Jenna Ortega, and Jude Bellingham, are featured in the new advertising campaign for Adidas Originals, which honors the brand’s icons.
Who has more of their own identity than Stormzy?! Perhaps Jenna Ortega, who plays Jenna on Wednesdays, or Jude Bellingham? In order to honor those individuals who were instrumental in bringing the Adidas brand to the forefront of popular culture, the company hired an A-list of influential people to star in the new Originals ad campaign. In addition, there is Jennie Kim, David Beckham, and Zinedine Zidane on this list. They discuss what it means to them to be an Original in their different fields while appearing in the campaign as adidas Original trailblazers and sharing their thoughts.
Stormzy, a devoted follower of Adidas, has this to say about originality: “Originality is opening up your mind and getting all your thoughts out in the open and asking yourself, who am I? That encapsulates who I am; I’m an authentic one. In addition, Jude Bellingham talks on what it’s like to be a football player for the Originals and how “football at times can be a bit of a lonely life,” adding, “I think everyone has a limit, I play the game how I wanna play the game.” “Being an original is to be brave enough to express yourself,” as Jenna so aptly summarizes what it is that distinguishes one person from another as an Original.
Headlined by three films shot by three creative pioneers, as well as a selection of stills grouped in triptychs, each of which focuses on three timelessly iconic ‘characters’ from the legendary Three Stripes archive — the heroes of the brand, Superstar, Gazelle, and Samba.
The storylines of the Trefoil’s (the three stripes!) past are interwoven with the manner in which these iconic styles, which were born in sport, have been accepted, reinterpreted, and absorbed into culture – time and time again. Each video and series of photographs focuses on a distinct silhouette.
