Manchester United have emerged as Real Madrid’s biggest rivals to sign Lille youngster Leny Yoro.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Following the departure of Raphael Varane this summer, Erik ten Hag is looking to freshen things up in defence at Manchester United. Yoro is admired by many clubs across Europe, but the Red Devils and Real Madrid appear to be the two main suitors, according to Le Parisien.
THE EXPLANATION
European champions Madrid are keen on 18-year-old Yoro, but are unwilling to meet Lille’s valuation of the youngster. This has opened the door for United, who have more cash to splash on the defender. Additionally, the Ligue 1 side have ruled out selling to rivals, effectively cutting Paris Saint-Germain out of the race, despite their attempts to lure Yoro to the capital in January. Liverpool are also said to retain their interest but are not as advanced in negotiations for the defender.
