Manchester United has its eye on Barcelona’s defender in order to strengthen the red team’s defense line, taking advantage of the financial crisis that Barcelona is going through.
United’s management wants to strengthen the team’s ranks before facing the challenges of the new season, with the aim of compensating for the disappointments of the ending season.
According to a report published by Football Spain, Manchester United was initially interested in the services of Ronald Araujo, before the management’s interest turned to the option of contracting with Kounde.
The report indicated that Barcelona would be open to the idea of selling Kounde this summer if an offer of no less than 50 million euros was received, and Barcelona would have to sell at least one defender in the summer, given the large number of defenders in the team’s strength.
Barcelona is seeking to balance the club’s financial records in accordance with the rules of fair financial play, which will oblige the club to sell a number of its players in the Mercato.
Kounde is 25 years old, and is good at playing in the center of defence. His contract with Barcelona expires in June 2026, and he does not mind leaving, but he is asking to leave on loan, not a final sale, which is rejected by Laporta, who wants to sell the player permanently.
