Real Madrid want Spain to give their player Lamine Yamal treatment

Real Madrid wants Spain to give as much attention to Brahim Diaz as they did in the case of Lamine Yamal, according to Relevo.

In September 2023, 16-year-old Lamine was handed his senior Spain debut. The youngster repaid the faith in him by scoring a cracking goal in that game as Spain mutilated Georgia 7-1. Yamal would go on to break multiple more records for club and country.

However, Yamal needed to make three more senior caps for Spain to permanently tie his international future to La Roja. Based on FIFA rules, the player remained eligible to switch allegiance to Morocco or even Equatorial Guinea until he had made four senior caps for Spain.

Spain didn’t waste time, Lamine was handed three more caps despite an injury in October stopping him from reaching those four caps before November 2023.

Real Madrid’s Brahim is in the same situation Lamine was. The 24-year-old attacker is eligible to play for Morocco as his father was born in the North African nation. The player holds a Spanish passport being born in Spain to his Spanish mother.

The attacker made his debut for Spain in 2021 but has never played another game for La Roja since. Like Yamal, he can switch to Morocco until he plays three more games for Spain.

Brahim has scored four goals and two assists in 17 games for Real Madrid this season.
