Optimism growing in Ansu Fati to get his career back on track… but can he do it?

The player has struggled to even make the matchday squad this season

Can Ansu Fati resurrect his career?

The former wunderkind’s career was derailed by a series of injuries, and he’s gone from being considered as a potential future Ballon d’Or winner to someone who does not usually make FC Barcelona’s matchday squad.

It’s understood the club wanted him to go out on loan in the past transfer window, but he refused, hoping to stick around and make a case for himself to earn more minutes.

There’s some optimism growing in the club and in the media that he can get back on track somewhat, although equally, some are skeptical just how much Fati can get back to where he was before.

A new report in Diario SPORT says manager Hansi Flick has noticed how Fati has become more active in recent weeks, spending more time after practice doing shooting drills, and working hard to earn minutes.

The injuries throughout his career have taken a toll, but a recent one in the pre-season this time around was crucial as it sapped him of strength right at the moment where many youngsters took a step forward.

They say his problem now is more mental than physical, and he’s in need of a confidence boost. A goal, they say, could do him wonders.
