Official, Barça Closes First Signing of the Year: Flick Has Confessed, Better Than Leão

The German coach has a formed opinion about the addition of the Portuguese star.

Barça is already planning the next season and Deco is clear about the priority in the transfer market. Currently, Hansi Flick is relying on three specific players for the winger position: Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Ferran Torres. Although the team has other options in the squad, like Ansu Fati and Pau Víctor, the German coach doesn’t count on them for his project.

Therefore, the club wants to strengthen the wing. With the need to improve the squad to be more competitive in all competitions, the arrival of a reinforcement on the flank has become a strategic move.

Rafael Leão Is One of the Options

One of the names that excites the management the most is Rafael Leão. The Portuguese winger from Milan is a player who especially excites Joan Laporta, who sees in him a standout footballer capable of making a difference in big matches. His speed, dribbling, and ability to unbalance make him a very attractive option to strengthen Barça’s attack.

At 25 years old, Leão is a proven and established global star at Milan. However, his signing will not be easy, as the Italian club will not easily let go of one of its star players and his market price is very high. Despite this, his name remains on the list of possible additions for the Barça team.

Hansi Flick Gives His Opinion on Leão

However, not everyone at the club sees Leão’s arrival in the same light. According to ‘El Nacional’, Hansi Flick has given his opinion on the Portuguese and doesn’t seem completely convinced about his signing. For the German coach, Leão is a great player with talent and potential, but also very inconsistent in his performance.

Flick believes that, although the Milan winger can offer brilliant moments, he doesn’t always maintain a consistent level throughout the season. Another aspect that concerns the Barça coach is Leão’s lack of defensive intensity. For Hansi Flick, the Portuguese is not a player characterized by pressing after losing the ball, something that is essential in his play style.

The German Prefers Other Options

Additionally, according to the same information, Flick has other profiles in mind that would better fit his idea of play. One of the names the German coach likes the most is Nico Williams.

The Spanish international, despite his drop in performance, is an electric footballer who has demonstrated higher intensity than Leão in off-the-ball work.
