Nottingham Forest have officially announced the arrival of towering striker Lorenzo Lucca as they look to strengthen their forward line. The Italian international has joined the club on a loan deal running until the end of the season, with Forest retaining the option to make the move permanent later on. Securing a new centre-forward had become a priority during the current transfer window, particularly with Chris Wood continuing to battle injury problems and Arnaud Kaliumendo having departed on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt.
Lucca arrives at the City Ground from Napoli, bringing an imposing physical presence at 6ft 7in. Despite his limited opportunities this season with the Serie A champions, he boasts a proven scoring record. During the 2024–25 campaign with Udinese, the striker finished as the club’s leading scorer, netting 14 goals in Italy’s top flight. His move to Napoli, however, saw his minutes reduced, with just one goal coming from 16 league appearances, only four of which were starts.
Now set for a fresh challenge in the Premier League, Lucca will be hoping to rediscover his best form in Forest colours. The striker, who will wear the number 20 shirt, offers a different attacking dimension and is expected to add aerial strength and a focal point to the team’s frontline as the season progresses.
Forest’s Global Head of Football, Edu Gaspar, expressed his satisfaction with the signing, highlighting the player’s blend of experience and potential. He noted that Lucca’s exposure to top-level football across different leagues should help him settle quickly while still leaving room for further development in his game.
The club has welcomed Lucca warmly, with optimism surrounding the impact he could make in the months ahead. As Forest look to stabilise their attacking options and push forward for the remainder of the campaign, the arrival of the Italian striker could prove to be a timely and influential addition.
