Legendary heavy metal band Metallica is reportedly on the verge of finalizing a major residency at the Las Vegas Sphere, potentially bringing their iconic sound to the cutting-edge venue in 2027. According to reports, negotiations are well advanced, signaling what could become one of the most ambitious live music projects in the band’s storied career.
Industry outlet Metal Injection notes that discussions are said to be roughly 90 percent complete, with the band already engaging directly with Sphere executives and technical teams. While contracts have not yet been signed, sources suggest that key logistical and creative talks are underway, indicating serious momentum toward an agreement.
Drummer Lars Ulrich previously addressed speculation during a radio appearance last summer, stopping short of confirmation but expressing strong enthusiasm for the idea. After attending U2’s opening-night performance at the Sphere in 2023, Ulrich described the venue as a groundbreaking evolution in live entertainment, hinting at how transformative such a space could be for artists willing to push creative boundaries.
Other band members have also shared excitement about the venue’s potential.
