It will be the player himself at the end of the season who decides whether he stays or leaves. It will depend on Hansi Flick’s plans.
Ronald Araújo Has Just Renewed with Barça Until 2031 with a Release Clause of 70 Million.
Barça wanted to secure him to ensure a transfer if necessary. It wasn’t convenient for them to let him leave without bringing in revenue if he left.
Now he is secured with a release clause that aligns with market prices: 70 million. Juventus of Turin, led by Thiago Motta, came for him in the winter market. But they wanted him on loan until the end of the season with a purchase option.
Hansi Flick decided that if he were to go on loan, it would be better for him to stay in his squad. Araújo is a culer, his commitment to the club is total, and nothing would please him more than to end his sports career at Barça.
However, Deco has paired him with Flick with Cubarsí, Íñigo Martínez, Eric García, and Christensen. All of them for the center-back position, and his presence, although valued, is dispensable.
Araújo Sets June to Decide Whether to Stay or Leave
He knows it, and he has set until the end of the season to see how Flick uses him in his plans. Until his injury, it was about one game yes and another no, which makes him understand that he counts on him, but not as indispensable.
Juventus will be willing this summer to pay his clause to keep him permanently.Araújo knows it, and it’s an ace he has up his sleeve.
The club leaves the decision in the player’s hands. If at the end of the season he decides to leave, Barça will open the exit door for him. However, of course, paying the 70 million of his clause.
Deco has made it clear in an interview with TV3 that, meanwhile, if Araújo stays, fine. If he wants to leave, that’s fine too.
“You can’t have a player who isn’t happy,” he said. “It ends up being a problem for the team. There are times when you might not play, and it’s difficult to manage…
…We’ve talked to him about it, and he was happy. If in the future it needs to change, he has the open door to tell us…
“I Think Araújo Will Stay Many Years at Barça”
I don’t think that’s what he wants. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have renewed. I think he will stay for many years.”
Deco also boasted in the same interview that “we have less concern about signing than before. We don’t need to sign four or five players today either.“
He added: “We signed three years ago, and the players who came are delivering results. And the young players who were already very young are consolidating and are now important like Pedri, Gavi, and Ronald (Araújo). We are happy because we have less concern about signing than we had before.”
Deco remembered the 200 million invested by Manchester City in the winter market: “there are countries where there is less control or more control… City spent more than 200 and some million in January. We can’t afford this today.”
