Hansi Flick Reportedly Asks Barcelona to Offload Five Players Ahead of New Season

Barcelona may be pushing for a historic treble this season, but behind the scenes, head coach Hansi Flick is already planning for the future — and it appears some names won’t be part of it.

According to Fichajes, Flick has reportedly informed the Barcelona board that five players do not feature in his long-term plans, urging the club to facilitate their exits this summer. The list includes both fringe figures and players once considered key to the project.

Here’s a closer look at the five players Flick is ready to move on from:

1. Iñaki Peña

Despite having his most active spell with the first team this season, Peña has fallen down the pecking order in 2025. Szczesny has become Flick’s preferred choice, and with Marc-André ter Stegen expected to return soon, the club is likely to sanction Peña’s exit. Fortunately, the 25-year-old still has admirers in La Liga.

2. Andreas Christensen

The Danish defender has endured a frustrating campaign on the sidelines. With others like Inigo Martinez, Pau Cubarsí, Ronald Araújo, and Eric García ahead of him, Christensen is now deemed surplus to requirements. Barcelona reportedly hope to cash in on him this summer.

3. Ansu Fati

Back from his loan spell in England, Fati returned with high expectations — but hasn’t found consistent minutes under Flick. As one of the least-used players in the squad, his departure appears likely, either on a loan deal or a permanent move, depending on offers.

4. Pau Víctor

Unlike the others, Pau Víctor still has a future at the club, but Barcelona believe he needs regular game time elsewhere. A loan move is being considered to help the young forward continue his development outside of Flick’s immediate plans.

5. Eric García

While García has seen increased involvement under Flick recently, he remains far from being a guaranteed starter. With uncertainty surrounding other centre-backs as well, his future will depend on how the transfer window evolves — but for now, he is on the list of potential departures.

As Barcelona fight on all fronts for silverware this season, the club’s leadership is also preparing for a squad shake-up — and Hansi Flick is wasting no time identifying the changes he wants.
