Because of Bellingham and Guler, Florentino Perez decided to stop the process of signing a world-class player

2025 has started in earnest for Real Madrid, with the calendar offering the team no chance to rest as they prepare for a tough test in the Spanish Super Cup against Real Mallorca next Thursday.

Despite the huge challenges, Carlo Ancelotti’s team has made a strong start to the new year, fully aware that repeating their previous achievements will be difficult.
Florentino Pérez, the club’s president, said a few days ago: “It is difficult to equal what we have achieved, but we will continue to fight for more titles. We started the season with two titles, and we are working to compete in the league and the Champions League, in addition to other titles.”

Pérez’s words indicate that the club will not rest on its laurels and will seek to achieve more in both the current and future seasons. This also explains why Pérez and Sánchez are considering the transfer market, despite Ancelotti’s previous statements suggesting that talking about signings in January is not easy.

Ancelotti explained in earlier comments: “We will see, that’s all I can say. We have a lot of games in January, and we are focused on that now. Talking about transfers is not easy for me at the moment, and it is not the right time for that. I am happy with the team I have, and we always overcome difficulties.”

Despite these statements, according to information from the Spanish newspaper “Defensa Central”, the club’s sporting officials are planning to make new signings in preparation for the 2025-26 season. The names that have made headlines include Alphonso Davies, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Martin Zubimendi, and Florian Wirtz.

Although Wirtz was considered a candidate to strengthen Real Madrid’s midfield after the departure of Toni Kroos, the current state of the team and the balance achieved following the absence of the legendary Kroos may reduce the chances of signing the German player.

In fact, Real Madrid does not see a place for Wirtz in the team at the moment, despite his talent and popularity. The reason for this is that current players such as Jude Bellingham and Arda Güler share similar characteristics to Wirtz. Furthermore, the asking price for Wirtz, which could exceed 100 million euros, represents another obstacle for Pérez and Sánchez.
