Barcelona were handed a huge opportunity to go six points clear of Real Madrid after Los Blancos’ shock loss to Valencia. But against an in-form Real Betis, Hansi Flick’s side were held to a 1-1 draw at Montjuïc.
The game saw Gavi open the scoring early, only for Betis to respond quickly. Despite pushing for a winner, Barça couldn’t break through again and had to settle for a single point.
Here are the player ratings from the intense La Liga clash:
Wojciech Szczesny – 6.5
Could have done better on the equaliser, though it’s hard to blame him entirely given the quick nature of the set-piece header. Aside from that moment, he had little to do.
Alejandro Balde – 6.5
Not at his sharpest. Struggled with defensive transitions and wasn’t as effective going forward, largely due to the lack of a natural left winger ahead of him.
Pau Cubarsí – 7
Commanded the backline in the absence of Íñigo Martínez. Handled the offside line well and was essential in Barça’s build-up play with calmness and composure.
Ronald Araújo – 7
Stepped in for Martínez and delivered a solid performance. His passing, once considered a weakness, looked improved and confident.
Jules Koundé – 7.5
An all-round strong showing. Handled his defensive duties with ease and got forward well, especially in the second half. Linked nicely with Lamine Yamal and created chances.
Pedri – 8
Barça’s midfield maestro was once again in control of the tempo. Showed his class in tight spaces and controlled the game, but his fatigue is starting to show. He badly needs rest.
Frenkie de Jong – 8
Balanced creativity with defensive discipline. Was dependable in possession and made intelligent decisions throughout. Subbed off after an hour with one eye on rotation.
Gavi – 8.5
Barcelona’s standout performer. Energetic, smart movement, and cool finish for the opening goal. His relentless pressing and off-ball intelligence made him a constant threat.
Lamine Yamal – 8
Once again electric down the right. Always involved, constantly driving at defenders, and looked like he could create something every time he touched the ball.
Ferran Torres – 7.5
Started on the wing and showed excellent movement and awareness. Provided the assist for Gavi’s goal with a perfectly timed pass. Sharp and efficient.
Robert Lewandowski – 6
Largely anonymous. Couldn’t find space or rhythm and struggled to link up with midfielders. Completed only nine passes in the first half and looked disconnected.
Final Thoughts
Barcelona were the more proactive side but lacked the final punch. With Madrid dropping points, this draw will feel like a missed opportunity. Gavi and Pedri shone in midfield, but Flick may need to reconsider the balance of the attack—especially with Lewandowski’s drop in form.
