It’s quite clear we have to make this decision, we will let him go for Mason Greenwood this summer

Reportedly, Barcelona has made a trade offer to entice the young striker Mason Greenwood to the Nou Camp in an attempt to entice him away from Manchester United.

Greenwood, who is now on loan at Getafe in La Liga, has attracted interest from teams such as Atletico Madrid because of his good performances.

Barcelona is targeting young Brazilian Vitor Roque, who came from Athletico Paranaense but has struggled to make a name for himself.

Roque has a long-term contract with Barcelona, but he hasn’t got many chances there.

Greenwood’s future at Manchester United is uncertain, however he will remain a part of the team until 2025. Getafe is prepared to extend his loan, but a permanent transfer seems unlikely considering his high asking price of £40 million.

Getafe president Angel Torres said he would want to keep Greenwood for a further season, but Manchester United could reconsider if they get a compelling offer.

By stating that Manchester United would consider selling Greenwood if a strong offer were to come in, Torres implied that a return to the club for the young forward would not be in the cards.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the Manchester United’s new minority owner, has cautioned about Greenwood’s situation and stressed the need of obtaining all relevant facts before making any decisions.

Ratcliffe underlined the importance of considering both Greenwood’s off-court behavior and on-court achievements when assessing his character and his future value to the squad.

Barça’s proposed trade deal increases the complexity of the already murky situation surrounding Greenwood’s future.

As summer approaches, Manchester United will need to carefully weigh their options and choose a course of action that aligns with the club’s values and long-term objectives.
