Spanish club Barcelona president Joan Laporta has decided to offer the Catalan team star for sale during the upcoming summer transfer period of 2024, in addition to Xavi Hernandez holding on to the player during the current period.
Barcelona is seeking to sell a number of important players in the team’s lineup in order to restore the financial balance that will allow them to conclude new contracts in various positions that Barcelona needs to support.
In light of this, the Spanish newspaper “Sport” revealed that the Barcelona club management has offered Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo for sale, in light of the interest of Bayern Munich club officials in contracting with the player during the upcoming summer transfer period of 2024.
The newspaper added that the sale price of Araujo ranges between 80 and 100 million euros, while Barcelona needs at least one large sale, in order to take into account the financial fair play law.
The newspaper continued, “Although Araujo is still Xavi Hernandez’s favorite defender, he will continue to start alongside Pau Cobarci,” despite his recent big mistakes against Paris Saint-Germain and Valencia, to which Xavi responded: “Ronald saved us on many occasions.”
She also indicated that regardless of whether they believe that his performance has declined or not, it seems that Barça may be forced to address this issue, as Araujo appears to be one of the few stars open to the transfer, despite public statements that he is happy at the Blaugrana.
It is worth noting that Araujo participated this year in 35 matches with the Catalan club in all competitions this season, where he scored one goal and also assisted one.

This club is becoming empty and shallow. How can you sell Araujo, our best defender? Is anyone perfect? Who has never made a mistake?
Or is it because he is not Spanish? I am going to stop supporting this club very soon because it looks like the level of unseriousness has taken a nosedive.
